First Lesson About Golf is a portable, safe and very effective children's golf instruction curriculum.

F.L.A.G. Owner Craig Hocknull has been teaching kids how to play golf ever since he was a kid. After many years of design and research Craig developed his lesson plans, found the appropriate equipment and began teaching young children (5-12 years) his program. He found instant results and was very encouraged by the progress he was making. This program took place in 2000 at the Yuma Golf & Country Club. (See picture gallery)

After conducting his program in conjunction with the Nike Golf Learning Center at Kokopelli Golf Course in Gilbert, the Resort Golf Academy at Beer Creek in Chandler and at Dobson Ranch and Desert Sands in Mesa. Craig was able to gather many valuable man hours of experience. It was at this time that the F.L.A.G. curriculum became complete. Craig approached the Higley school district and particularly San Tan elementary. They were excited to have golf as an after school program.

After running a successful after school golf program for 2003 - 2004 at Higley, Craig approached the Club Discovery program with the Gilbert School District. After attending a demonstration class the program coordinator was on board. Now golf is offered at four elementary schools in Gilbert.
