Coaches Biography Coach Craig Hocknull grew up playing golf in Australia. Its is there were he competed as a junior golfer at many state and nation tournaments. His results on the course and in the classroom enabled Craig to win a full ride scholarship to Jackson State University in Mississippi. Craig's team won 4 conference championships, 3 national championships and 1 birth to the NCAA regional tournament at Michigan States home course. Craig's claim to fame in college was that he held the number one stroke average position for all Division I universities his freshman semester while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. After graduating at the top of the Health P.E. and Recreation department and with the best GPA of any athlete in the state of Mississippi, Craig began his professional golf career. Short lived due to a wrist injury, Craig pursued his teaching career. With a great eye for the swing Craig and a love for the golf business Craig went on to hold director of instruction or instructor positions with such establishments as, Yuma Golf & Country Club, Nike Learning Center at Kokopelli, San Diego Golf Academy, Desert Sands Golf Course and Resort Golf. Craig has coached players of all ages and ability levels from the beginner to the PGA tour. Craig enjoys spending time with his lovely and talented wife Laura and his two boys J.C. and Hugh. Craig is also involved with his Church as well as assisting the South Mountain Community College golf team. Whether he is helping the South West Section PGA with junior events or helping his Church raise money for youth mission trips, Craig really has a passion for working with kids. "I love working with kids because I like being a part of that kids life. The coach regardless of sport can play the role of a supportive adult other than the family. This dynamic assists the child and the family when issues other than swing problems arise." Craig's goal is to develop the home school golfer so that they can continue their home school experience through high school without sacrificing their chances of obtaining a golf scholarship. And provide those not interested in scholarships with a squad or team environment for them to experience and grow in.
